Garforth Rangers Girls U11 v Garforth Villa Girls U11
By site user S Shippey West Riding Cup, Sunday November 27, Garforth Rangers Girls 3-1 Garforth Villa Girls
Girls' football continues to increase in popularity and two established Garforth clubs encourage girls throughout the region to participate in the sport.
After victories against Howden Clough and Wortley respectively in the previous round, Rangers and Villa were drawn against each other in the West Riding Shield at Under 11 level and played out a close and exciting game with Rangers eventually winning on this occasion.
Villa took the lead in the first minute and held the advantage going into the second half when they almost doubled their lead but for a good save by the home keeper.
Rangers then scored two goals from good passing moves and secured the game with a goal from a corner.
Rangers now go into the last eight of the Cup but all is not lost for Villa who now go into the Shield competition, so both teams still have a chance of winning some silverware at the end of the season.
