A collaboration between the BBC Radio Leeds all_2gether_now project and BBC Radio 3' 'World on your street' led to an exciting one hour world music programme featuring local musicians.
It all started with a bit of a challenge. The BBC Radio Leeds all_2gether_now project went to BBC Radio 3 and said that in the Harehills, Burmantofts and Chapeltown areas of Leeds we really did have the 'world on our streets'.
We then had to back our claims by finding a variety of musicians playing a diverse range of world music - could we really do it?
The end result was to be a one hour world music programme presented by Liz Kershaw and broadcast by the BBC.
