No peach please, we're English

We are living in Italy. I had taught my son to respond politely if any children approached him and say sono inglese, non capisco. We visited an activity park where there were lots of Italian school children. He later told me he startled a child who wanted to play by saying solo inglese, non pesco, meaning something along the lines of "only English, I do not fish".

Pèsca means "peach" whilst pésca stands for fishing, there's little difference in pronunciation.

Non pesco means "I don't fish."
