Troubled holidays

We asked an English friend how he had enjoyed his holidays back home. 'Not much', he said, 'because of the Bevölkerung', population. He really meant to say 'due to Bewölkung', cloudiness.

A tourist from Japan was lost in a city and looking for directions from his mobile phone and was asked what street he was on where he replied after looking at a sign Straßenbahn, tramway!

Once in the news the speaker said, tomorrow we would have a slight Bevölkerungszunahme, increase of population, instead of Bewölkungszunahme, increase of cloudiness. And he was German!
