All three examples mean basically the same thing: that the caller will ring back later. They express an intention or probability in the future.
There are three ways of doing this in French: - using the present tense:
je rappelle dans cinq minutes - (literally) I call, I'm calling back...
- using the verb aller, to go, plus the infinitive of the other verb:
je vais rappeler dans cinq minutes - I'm going to call back...
- using the future tense:
je rappellerai plus tard - I will call back... In the first sentence the intention or probability that the caller will ring back is very high, in the second sentence it is less so and in the last sentence it is even less obvious. |
