Beidaihe - a seaside resort
Under Mao's leadership, hotels and sanatoria were built in the lush surroundings of Beidaihe. Here model workers would be rewarded with a free summer holiday. Today sanatoria hire out their facilities to conferences and training schools as well as take holiday-makers. As Beidaihe's tourism has grown, so has the number of luxury hotels.
