Friends of Spring Wood is a voluntary conservation group that undertakes practical conservation and maintenance work at the Spring Wood Picnic Site, near Whalley.
Steph Davies tells us about the Friends of Spring Wood Group...
"Spring Wood is a small semi-natural ancient woodland and tasks include tree planting, weeding out, clearing ditches, painting picnic tables etc; We also have larger projects on the go - we have developed an access trail for disabled visitors, an outdoor classroom made of willow and a bird hide. We are currently developing a wildflower meadow.
The group meets on the first Saturday of the month between 10.00am and 4.00pm. A packed lunch and appropriate footwear and clothing is required. It is a good idea to let us know in advance if you wish to attend, then we can make sure someone is available to meet you. Contact Paul Shoreman, Ranger at the site, on 01254 825187 or Steph Davies, the group's secretary on 01925 791492."
