Meaning: Crouching or squatting down on one's heels (orig. 'Cower'). Pitmen often favoured this method of taking the weight off their feet. In mining villages they could often be seen 'keawrin' ' on the pavement outside their homes, having a breath of fresh air at the end of a day's work.

Meaning: Going over on your ankle on the kerb edge (causeway). In Blackburn it was known as 'wotin'
