Meaning: No idea on spelling but phonetically is "agate" or "aget" - meaning "said". Usually used to describe another person's boastfulness or overstatement. As in: "Ah, yer should have heard Jim last night, his agate 'Ya should see my new Plasma screen, it's humungous!'

Just to add: "apeth" is short for "half pennyworth", "ha'p'orth", ie, not worth much.. "Daft" is "silly". "Tha daft 'aporth" effectively means "you silly nothing!"
