Scott Ashley is a singer/songwriter from Blackpool, who's been writing songs since he was 12...

Why not tell us all about your unsigned band?

Your band name?
Scott Ashley

Where are you from?
Blackpool

Who plays what?
I'm a singer-songwriter, and play the guitar.

Anyone got any bad habits?
Not really!

What's the band's history so far?
I started writing songs at the age of 12, and picked up the guitar at 13. I was in many bands whilst at school and college, most notably Bottlekiln, before moving to study Law at Warwick University. Here, I formed The Fire, who received much acclaim and popularity in their short life, in particular through writing and performing the official world cup anthem for England Supporters Association, "Back For The Football 2002", which was a hit on TV, radio and led to countless press interviews. The band headlined The Cavern Club in Liverpool and performed with Big Brovaz and Jamelia on Valentine's Day 2004 at the NEC Hilton. The band split in summer 2004, and I decided to carve out a solo career, moving to Blackpool in the process.

Style and influences?
Favourite all time artists are The Beatles, Bowie, U2, The Stones, Oasis. My music is more "indie-pop" with a lot of the most recent songs acoustic based.

Best moment so far?
Apart from the football song, it would be headlining at The Cavern Club in Liverpool, the home of my favourite all-time group, The Beatles.

Worst/most embarrassing moment so far?
I was doing a pop festival with established pop groups, and my band were the only ones with "real" instruments. The sound engineers struggled with this, and I ended up doing the entire gig without my guitar, which was quite a challenge to say the least! Nonetheless, we managed to pull it off well!

Next gig?
Check out my website at www.scottashley.tk for up-to-date listings.

Anything else we should all know about?
I'm currently recording a CD and a single will be released very soon!
