Jelly's Last Jam

Pretend stage dives and arguments over the washing up, it's all happening with Jelly's Last Jam from Preston...

Why not tell us all about your unsigned band?

Your band name?
Jelly's Last Jam

Where are you from?
Preston

Who plays what?
Paul Byrne - Vocals
Rob Tryner - Keyboards
Martin Clarke - Bass
Andy Lyth - Drums

Anyone got any bad habits?
The kitchen's a mess, and it's Rob's turn to do the washing up!

What's the band's history so far?
Our sound is soulful and energetic, with heavy emphasis on rhythm. The band members all met at the University of Central Lancashire where they studied Contemporary Performing Arts and Music. At this time Paul and Andy had formed a band, Falto, who played in the student pubs and bars of Preston. After they had graduated, the band split up and Andy, Rob and Marty left University to join previous band Frencheryk, with whom they had a modicum of success, playing to 15,000 people at one point at a show in Stockton-on-Tees. In March 2005 however, they left the band to form Jelly's Last Jam. Writing as a foursome, and taking influences from a variety of sources, including Stevie Wonder, Ben Folds Five, The Who, The Temptations and Oscar Peterson they now aim to play 'good, fun music' which they love. And so should you!

Style and influences?
The bands style has recently been described as 'Motown power-jazz punk', whatever that
means

Best moment so far?
The bands debut gig at The Mill, Preston. All the
audience were crowded at the front of the stage, and by the end of the gig were singing along to songs they had not even heard before!

Worst/most embarrassing moment so far?
The beginning of the debut gig, where Paul tripped and nearly fell into the audience... he managed to pass it off as a pretend stage dive, but we know what REALLY happened!

Anything else we should all know about?
We are awesome! Check the website if you don't believe me : www.jellyslastjam.co.uk
