Your band name? The Wisemen Where are you from? Lancaster
Who plays what? Richard Turner - vocals, guitar Scott Morley - guitar Paddy Garrigan - bass, keys Gulli Brodbeck - drums
Anyone got any bad habits? No particularly bad habits, though drinking too much isn't a very good habit...
What's the band's history so far? Richard and Scott have been playing together for a few years, since 2004, the current line-up have played numerous local gigs, plus several gigs in London, Manchester, Liverpool, Glasgow and more. We have also released several CD's including "Record Of The Week" at Piccadilly Records, Manchester. We are to have a song released on Liverpool's Regular Beat Recordings in June 2005.
Style and influences? When playing electrically, the Wisemen sound has a slightly psychedelic sound, with touches of folk-rock, alt-country and a hint of soul. Our acoustic output contains lots of bluegrass instruments, so is much more folk-blues-country infused, yet contemporary.
Best moment so far? Lots of them. Releasing our cd's, playing live to new audiences. Probably the best news was that Regular Beat Recordings agreed to put out one of our tracks on a split ep on 7" vinyl as well as CD.
Worst/most embarrassing moment so far? The worst moment was in October 2004, when a Fender Rhodes piano was accidentally dropped on Scott's hand rendering it useless for nearly two months...
Anything else we should all know about? We have plenty of gigs coming up in the next few months in Lancashire and beyond. Check out our website for more information and sign up to our mailing list for regular updates! www.thewisemen.net |
