Sean Pastorius, bass player with The Rising from Blackburn gave us the lowdown...

Why not tell us all about your unsigned band?

Your band name?
The Rising

Where are you based?
Blackburn

Who plays what?
Donny Przybysz (Lead vocals and rhythm guitar)
Jim Ellel (Lead guitarist and backing vocals)
Tony Hogg (Drummer and backing vocals)
Sean Pastorius (Bass and backing vocals)

Anyone got any bad habits?
Tony, the drummer, likes to burp and talk at the same time, highly funny and very effective. Apart from when it comes from the other end. Sean, the bass player, likes to turn up his volume knob on his bass, after every song, even though it can't go any higher.

What's the band's history so far?
The band have been together for two years and are now are on the books of five national promoters, played nearly 40 gigs, four radio appearances with another on the way through BBC GMR, released two singles through the Internet, and a plethora of festivals.

Style and influences?
Rock - influences range from The Who, Ocean Colour Scene, Rush, Jimi Hendrix, etc. We have many influences, we don't sound like any other band, we have a very original sound!

Best moment so far?
Getting signed to Empty Shed Records Ltd. Other best moments include, playing at The Cavern Club, headlining In The City 2004 at Satan's Hollow in Manchester and playing King Georges Hall twice... There are too many to mention.

Anything else we should all know about?
We have been taking time out to write and record our first album. The web address for the band is www.therisingonline.com
