quote'The Cat In The Hat' has one fatal flaw,
It lacks the characteristic Seuss rhymes and so truly is a bore!
So go away cat and Mike Myers too,
You left me feeling rather blue.

Not a patch on Jim Carrey as 'The Grinch'.
This film only succeeded in making me flinch!
Although it transported me to a fantasy land with brightly coloured sets,
It was totally overpowered with wacky special effects.

Lacking in charm and a decent script,
Sacrilege to the book it should be condemned to the crypt.
You'll watch it and wonder, like me, why you did,
And children should only be subjected to it if they're really horrid.

It tells the story of Conrad and Sally Walden (Spencer Breslin and Dakota Fanning).
Trapped in their house when outside it is raining,
They're visited by a zany and most manic cat,
Who has more than a trick or two in his red and white hat.

He widens their imaginations,
But soon they realise the implications.
Causing mess and wreaking havoc when left to roam,
They must get rid of him before their mum (Kelly Preston) gets home…

And it's not just the feline who commits a sin,
But also their mum's nasty boyfriend, Quinn (Alec Baldwin).
Not to mention director, Bo Welsh, who succeeds in giving the film pace,
But having chosen such bad actors, lets it fall flat on its face.

I know I'm not exactly Wordsworth,
But I hope I've made it clear that this film deserves a wide berth.
So go away cat and don't ever return!
When will Hollywood ever learn?
