This is one of the shortest walks we have done, just over a couple of miles, but still enough distance to walk hills, pastures, canal and riverbanks. We are in the east Lancashire village of Blacko.

Sandy Watt A lovely nostalgic web walk. I went to Blacko School and the Sunday School nearby in the late 1940's until 1955. I now live in Southern Brittany but have very happy memories of wandering homeward from school via water meetings to Higherford. I also remember the cross country runs from Colne Grammar Scool, along the canal bank, up to the Cross Gaites and back down the fields.
winifred parker wonderful. i was born at the higher admergill farm in 1944.my grandparents were harry and margaret brown.very,very, happy memories. i still go back to walk the watermeetings through roughlee to barley. ialso lived at north farm cottages. loved it where have those days gone.the simplisity and beauty of it all.
