Guy Pople

The Cyberspace Conductor

Guy Pople has taken a group of virtual musicians from across the world, and brought them together in an attic in Clayton le Moors...

World music is very much in vogue. Musicians from just about every corner of the globe are now proudly demonstrating their skills, instruments and cultures in recordings and on radio and television... and often in person, at concerts and festivals.

The Feature presents a new slant on the concept... with performers from far and wide gathering in a small attic room in Lancashire! The difference here is that hardly any of the members of this band have ever met... hence their title Virtual Strangers!

They come together only courtesy of the internet and a computer mixing programme. The man twiddling the controls and giving life to them is guitarist, composer and - in this case cyberspace conductor - Guy Pople. Hear how Guy blends together a wide range of performers and instruments to prove that, musically, the world really is a smaller place now.
