Arts in the Park 2006

The Lightning Seeds, The Wonder Stuff and the Northern Chamber Orchestra will be headlining this year's Arts in the Park in Blackburn...

The Arts in the Park annual festival will once again be providing a wide range of family activities at Witton Country Park in Blackburn on Saturday 22 and Sunday 23, July 2006. An exciting programme of both music and theatre will be headed up by The Lightning Seeds and The Wonder Stuff, along with the Northern Chamber Orchestra.

The musical line-up for Saturday on the Main Stage will include performances by Mike Sanchez and the Portions, Director, Liz McClarnon, Harvey, Dario G, Andy Scott-Lee, 365, Whistle Jacket, Honey Couture, Twin MC’s and Sheigh. On the Alternative Stage there will be an eclectic mix of rock, punk, and acoustic music performed by many of Lancashire’s local bands

On Sunday, come and enjoy the jazz, big band, and world music sounds performed by the Northern Jazz Orchestra, Tongue & Groove, and Poco Loco. For the grand finale listen to the Northern Chamber Orchestra, conducted by Nicholas Smith, play the works of Bizet, Dvorak, Sousa, Strauss, plus modern favourites by Gilbert and Sullivan, John Williams, and Andrew Lloyd Webber, followed by a spectacular firework display.

I second ross. fireapple red were the only band last year that stretched to the hardcore/metal community, this festival is supposed to be for everyone, so more alternative music should be featured.
