Elavi

Elavi is a multi-instrumentalist artist playing guitar, keyboard and base guitar...

Your band name?

Elavi

Where are you from?

Originally from Manchester but now living in Preston

Who plays what?

I'm a multi-instrumentalist artist playing guitar, keyboard and base guitar. I'm also a singer and rapper writing all my own music.

Got any bad habits?

Not sleeping enough, working too much and not switching off.

What's the band's history so far?

I won the award for the best urban act of the “in the city” music festival in Manchester. I then went on to create develop and play at Manchester’s Cultural peace day at URBIS before moving to Preston to become one of the main acts at 53degrees – Preston’s new award winning venue.

Style and influences?

Jazz and Rock which and are all combined into a unique style of HipHop and R‘n’B. When trying to liken me to other artists Outkast, The Roots, Naz and Common spring to mind.

Best moment so far?

Creating the Peace Day in Manchester at a time when people were focusing on peace brought so many cultures together. It gave the opportunity to use music to influence and change.

Worst/most embarrassing moment so far?

Attracting the wrath of Preston City Council with a Poster campaign – “this time there will be fire” – was not the intended effect but at least it proves his campaign was working and people were noticing!

Next gig?

53degrees in Preston on Friday the 10th February 2006.

Anything else we should all know about?

The web site is now up and in test mode but will be fully operational from February 2006.
