Whilst on the BBC Bus: Sally 'fesses up

Sally Naden is the ever-smiling presenter on the BBC Bus. On air throughout the day on BBC Radio Lancashire, chatting to the visitors on the bus and sharing their stories with the rest of the county.

Where have you had the best cuppa?

There's no such thing as the 'the best cuppa' because we are very grateful for every hot drink we get on the bus, although it has to be said that some are better than others and one place, which shall remain nameless, made us pay for them!

What has been your most memorable moment?

When a group of special needs teenagers came on the bus and I was chatting to one lady and behind me Chris was chatting to a lad from the group. I heard Chris say "she's behind you" the lad turned around, saw me and beamed from ear to ear, threw open his arms and gave me the biggest hug I've ever had. Magic!

Has being on the bus lived up to your expectations?

And more! Every day is different and it's wonderful to be able to show so many concerned listeners how well I'm doing.

What was the funniest moment?

In Fleetwood when i asked the skipper of a cargo ship in the quay to toot its horn, never thinking it would, and it did.

Have you ever crashed the bus?

Crash is a word we try not to use. I would rather say "war wounds" and "battle scars". The bus is very heavy and manhole covers on pub car parks have a tendency to 'dissolve' if we drive over them. (nuff said)

Where is the most opinionated area of Lancashire?

I never struggle to find an opinion in Lancashire. From the quietest villages to our cities, listeners like to have their say.

Which venue made you laugh the most?

Recently in Lancaster outside the Grand Theatre we had the Chitty Chitty Bang Bang car, Father Christmas, Gilly and a fairy who had a laugh like a strangled pig, just another fun day on the BBC Bus.

What in your opinion is the most fascinating fact about the BBC Bus?

Chris only drinks decaf coffee and calls quiche 'girlie pie'

Is there such a thing as a bad, or should that be a-bomb-inable day on the BBC Bus?

I can honestly say I've not had a bad day on the BBC Bus. However we were a little worried when Joe brought a WW2 bomb on board the bus in Hutton. Despite telling us on air that he'd taken the explosive out, a bomb expert rang and said there could be more explosives inside. We called the police and they evacuated the area, closed roads, emptied pubs and schools and poor old Joe was most upset to have caused such a fuss. All was well in the end after the police decided it was safe and there were no other explosives present.
