It was a damp, drizzly morning at TCFC Burn Naze home ground as TCFC girls greeted last season’s league victors.

Man Utd kicked off and threatened to score from the off, one chance denied by Leah, the next clipping the goal post. TCFC too had their chances, Jen’s shot saved by the keeper and a free kick from Sam, clipped over the cross bar by Dannii.

Man Utd’s first goal came 10 minutes in, when they outwitted Leah sending her one way, before putting the ball behind her into the net. The 2nd made more easy with Leah reacting too slowly and the 3rd coming after a poor cross goal clearance from a TCFC player.

TCFC started to move the ball forward more, with passing between Jen and Jess and chances for Sam, Dannii and Steph being saved by the Man Utd keeper.

Early in the 2nd half saw TCFC winning the ball more, with shots from Jen and Jess just not strong enough to go beyond the keeper. However, 7 minutes in and Leah was drawn out from her goal line, leaving a gap for Man Utd to easily score their 4th. Man Utd by this point were walking the ball through TCFC defence, forcing TCFC keeper to make a save.

Within a 5 minute slot and 20 minutes into the 2nd half the rest of the goals for the match were scored. The 5th from their No.7, who out on the wing weaved around Alex with great skill, waited for Sam, who was now in goal’s, to make her move before easing the ball passed her.

TCFC only goal was brought about when Dannii won the ball from Man Utd, ran up the middle of the pitch striking the ball powerfully into the back of the net. The 6th and final goal finding the far side of the net for Man Utd.

Man Utd dominated the game from the start, with their skilfull ball control and ability to pass the ball with pinpoint precision. TCFC girls should learn a valuable lesson from this game, to pass the ball sooner and with more accuracy, as they know they can do ready for their PNE game next week.

The Man of the Match Trophy went jointly to Steph and Jen for their never yielding hard work and determination and the Touch of Class went to Dannii for her well deserved goal.

Final Result: Thornton Cleveleys 1 Manchester Utd 6
