"We contacted Lawrence, the landlord of the Red Rock Inn, after having heard from regulars about possible spirits that may be there. We had heard that some of the staff had seen and felt things, seen doors opening on their own and had feelings of being touched by persons walking past, though noone else was present. Objects had also been moved and then replaced again later. My investigation group, In Search of Spirit arrived at around 10.30pm armed with all our equipment ready for the night's investigations. We planned seances, vigils, electrical voice phenomena and emf meters which tells us if there is the possiblility of spirit energy in a certain room. We also took camcorders to capture orbs, which can be the first manifestation of spirits, trying to communciate with us, but it can also be dust or insects, so we have to double check all recordings to rule this out! As I made my way to the dining area, I was drawn to a set of swing doors which runs to the kitchen area. I became very aware of a female presence. She was wearing what I would call a molly cap with a frill round it. Her hair was tucked up into it. She gave me the name Mary. She said she lived here in the 1860s. She was quite strong in her energies and as I entered the doors I felt a sudden surge of energy run through me, then I became icy cold. Temperature checks did show a mild drop in the temperature within this area. Tyone Bowles, our other sensitive, also felt the sudden change as he entered. I also became aware of a child around the age of seven or eight who connected to Mary. I was given the name Margaret and felt that they may have been mother and daughter. As we made our way up to the room above the dining room, all group members felt the changes again in temperature from being comfortably warm, to an icy chill within a matter of seconds. It was in this room that Damien Lee got a sudden shock. He was aware of a old lady walking towards him, he asked if anyone else could see this lady, he realised it was only him, and was a little shocked by the presence. We felt the old lady resisides at the inn and many of the staff confirmed this. In this room I felt the name Mary connect with me again. I was made aware of the smell of wool being woven. Mary said she used to work at a mill close by, and she lived in the first cottage which is now the inn. It was confirmed that the Red Rock was once three cottages. She also gave the name Cotes or Coyetes as the place of work. Also the name Thomas Harwood came through who said he would associate with the people who owned the pub back in the 1800s. It was in this room that we caught on film a light or orb, which was seen moving along the screen where I had picked up the lady spirit, and where Damien had seen the old lady. We decided to hold a seance with Jackie the landlady and another member of staff. We joined hands and commenced. The seance brought through many names; again Thomas and the last name Pickes connected. Jackie felt a prod on her leg during the seance, and another member of staff felt a strong gush of wind pass by her ear. It was during the seance when I was channeling a spirit, that I became uncomfortable. Sometimes when I work I feel and sense the conditions the spirit has experienced. I felt the presence of a gentleman who had had a stroke. My face and my left arm became numb. The man said he connected with Lawrence the landlord. I also got the name Claire connecting to Lawrence. The seance ended. I mentioned to Lawrence about this gentleman. Lawrence went into the back and came out with a newspaper article. It was about this man, whose name was Ernie, and told how he had had a stroke amongst other problems. He was a well known figure around Padiham and was a friend of Lawrence's. Ray Lee, on returning from the car, became aware of a male spirit energy sitting in the chairs near the door. He took photos which show a bright spirit orb, we believed this to be that of the enegy trying to communicate to us." |
