A fruit and vegetable supplier is marketing baby cucmbers. They must be picked when they are between 5cm and 6cm long. The graph shows the growth rate of this variety of cucumber:

For how long (to the nearest half day) will the cucumbers be the right length for picking?



Answer and commentary
We need to look at the graph for the time when the cucmber reaches 5cm and when it reaches 6cm.
Baby cucmber growth rate
It reaches 5cm after 9.5 days and 6cm after 11 days. So the cucumbers will be the correct length for picking for about 1.5 days.


Answer: 112 days.
