Now for the last bit. The walls are all beautifully painted and we're ready for a new carpet. Now frankly, carpet laying is not DIY, get the professionals in.
Some shops include fitting in the price, but if you can find a bargain carpet other shops will still fit it for you. A price of £4.50 per square metre is reasonable. Do an internet search to find a good deal for your project report. Carpet comes on rolls 4 metres wide. So, you will need to buy a length of carpet 4 metres by the length of the other side of the room.
Let's see what that means with bedroom 2.
Looking at the plan, we need less carpet if we buy a piece 2.5m x 4m. That makes 10m².
Now work out the area of carpet you will need for bedroom 1. Round the total up to the next square metre, since you cannot buy parts of a square metre.
4.4m is too wide for the carpet roll, so you'll need a piece 4.4metres long. |
