DIY Project
Lining Paper

Decorator Most wallpaper is sold in standard rolls 10mx530mm.

We will need to put paper up on all of the wall area except for the windows and doors!

The usual rule of thumb is to go round the room working out how many roll width are needed. Now the standard roll is 530 mm wide, that is 530 ÷ 1000 = 0.53m i.e. just over 0.5m. So we'll work out how many 0.5m width are needed to get round the room. then work out the length we need using the height of the room.

You should always allow a bit extra for mistakes, waste and odd corners. In this case we'll ignore the doors and windows, which don't need papering!

Remember the rooms are all 10 feet high. Convert this to metres:

Bedroom Plan
The height of the room is m

Again we'll practice on bedroom 2.

All the way round the walls is 2.5 + 3.1 + 2.5 + 3.1 = 11.2m 11.2 ÷ 0.5 = 22.4.
We can't have part of a roll width, so we'll need 23 roll widths.
Now multiply by the height of the room:
23 x 3 = 69m.
That means we'll need 7 rolls of paper.

Now use your plan of bedroom 1 to work out how many rolls of paper you will need. Don't forget the walls are still 3m high!

We'll need rolls of paper
