Introduction
How is this going to help at college / university

Accounting

Colleges and universities all expect you to know the basics when it comes to Application of Number. You'll find it an advantage to learn these skills before you go on to any further courses.

You may be thinking that you're not going on to study a subject that has anything to do with number, so why should you learn these skills? Well, think very carefully about this. In most courses you'll come across something numerical. Here are some examples:

  • Gathering statistics and making sense of them
  • Putting together graphs to illustrate statistics
  • Working out averages for statistics you've gathered
  • Being able to convert from one unit to another

Talk to any tutor, and they'll tell you that having basic number skills is going to help you, not only with any research that you do, but also with presenting data for your projects and essays in sensible ways.
