The appearance and layout of a spreadsheet can be changed quite easily, and formatting can be carried out in much the same way as for a word processing package.
There are a number of ways to change the look of a spreadsheet.
Here are a few you might have tried before:
Format:
You can change font styles/sizes
You can align the information in the cells
You can format cell numbers including changing: decimal places, dates and percentages
You can re-size columns and rows
Insert:
You can insert rows, columns and cells
You can insert pictures and symbols
You can insert diagrams, charts and objects
There are Formatting shortcuts that can be carried out using the keyboard. Take a look in the Help option of the software package you are using, to find the key combinations.
Alistair has produced another spreadsheet which compares different stock items sold between January and March. He has formatted his layout, so all he needs to do now is print it out.
