 | Martin Bashir is a student on a Media and Film course. He really wants to get a job in the media industry, as a producer or director. He's confident that he's good with people and can think on his feet.
Martin has been given the opportunity work for the BBC, on their flagship consumer programme, 'Watchdog'. He'll be joining a team of producer directors, whose job it is to deliver video inserts for the programme. |
The Brief 'Watchdog' was in production of a Christmas special, so Martin was asked to make a short film of 3 minutes and 10 seconds on the subject of Christmas toys. He needed to find out what the big sellers were, how much they cost and the kinds of experiences adults had in buying them. There was also a bit of investigative journalism to be done in finding background information about the toys. In this environment, pieces need to be researched at very short notice, so there can be quite a lot of pressure. This was a huge task to get done in a short period of time. Martin also had to keep within the budget that was provided for his film. The researcher on the team was able to help with some of the background research and find a presenter for the film.
