Lisa working with her team

Although the three main Key Skills are vital in this work environment, it also involves a great deal of teamwork and problem solving.

Lisa found that her wider Key Skills were very important in dealing with her job on a day-to-day level. This is a job where being able to learn from your experiences is essential.

The Wider Key Skills

Working With Others:
For Lisa, working effectively in a team came naturally. The job is all about teamwork, so being able to pitch in wherever you're needed is definitely an advantage. In this job you won't be working with just one team. The whole operation depends on a number of teams all working together to get the job done and to provide the right packages for clients and customers.

Problem Solving:
In this environment, there will be issues to sort out every day, and you will need to be able to deal with them as efficiently as possible. The whole job is an exercise in problem solving - finding rooms, accommodating people and dealing with guests. You will need to know who is responsible for all the different jobs that need doing.

Improving Own Learning and Performance:
In this job, you'll be learning new things all the time. Lisa did well and showed good initiative in her attempts to improve her performance. She got to know the layout of the hotel well in order to show her client the rooms and facilities. For this type of work you need good planning and organisational skills.
