Mithun on the telephone

Mithun had to cope with having to work on two projects at once. This meant that he had to manage his time properly and plan ahead.

He found that the other three key skills were essential in getting both jobs done properly and on time.

The Wider Key Skills

Working With Others:
It's important to be able to work in a team and listen to the advice of those around you. There are also support staff who you would have to brief in order that they can help you with your projects. One thing to always bear in mind is that you should respect other people's time. This means being on time for meetings.

Problem Solving:
As Mithun found out, in jobs like this, you may be expected to work on several different projects at once. This means that your timekeeping has to be very good. You need to be able to prioritise your work and plan ahead. When problems to crop up, it's good to show initiative and have a go at solving them yourself. If you can't solve them, you should know where to go to for help.

Improving Own Learning and Performance:
Mithun was asked to give a presentation of his findings. The best way of improving your performance is to rehearse several times, so that you're absolutely sure of what you're going to say and how you're going to say it. You need to know where your weaknesses are and work hard at improving on them.
