Portfolios
How to put a portfolio together

Let's make a start ...

Labelling

Label your portfolio folderLabel the outside of your portfolio with your full name, tutor group or class number on the spine. There may be more than one person with the same name. If you only write down your first name, other people may have trouble identifying that the portfolio is yours.

Open the folder and lay it flat on the desk. You'll now find it easier to take out the name tab and replace it.

Planning the layout of your portfolio

You should plan the content of your portfolio carefully. Know where each piece of evidence belongs and stick to your plan. Insert dividers into your folder. These will help your tutors/teachers to find your work quickly, when they need to mark it.

Label file dividers to make it easy to locate your work - your tutor/teacher may be able to help with ideas of titles for each section.

On the front of each divider, write what should be behind it to remind you where to put things.
Label file dividers

Starting at the front of the portfolio, the file dividers could be labelled like this:

  • Key Skills Standards and Project Brief/Assignment
  • Key Skills Evidence Records
  • Final tasks/purposes
  • Index, followed by evidence - which must be numbered
  • Other

Once you've sorted out your labels, make sure that you file all your evidence under the correct section. That way you'll be able to find it quickly ... and so will your assessor.
