A portfolio is a collection of work that acts as a record of your educational performance over a period of time. Portfolios may be used for a variety of purposes. These include: increasing your learning opportunities, helping you to demonstrate a wide variety of skills, helping you to recognise your own academic growth and teaching you to take greater responsibility for your own learning and development.
Your portfolio of evidence should meet the criteria of the Key Skills standards you're working towards. You can find out more about this in the section on Understanding Standards.
	Paper-based portfolios Your portfolio can be paper-based and include: Written or typed work Tapes CD's Disks Printouts Photos Models
It's fine if your evidence comes from another subject that you may be studying at the same time. You just need to be sure that you reference it clearly and make it clear where it can be found. This is in case an assessor needs to look at it.
CD-ROM portfolio It may be possible for your evidence to be in electronic format, as long as it meets all the criteria. You will need to check this with your tutor.
