Dare to Knit

One in fourteen babies are born premature. The CSV Action Desk asks you to knit tiny clothes for them.

Baby Jack

Jack was born on the 7th December 2007 and was 12 weeks premature. He weighed just three pounds and three ounces.

One in 14 babies are born prematurely.

BBC Radio Kent CSV Action Desk is asking you to chase away those winter blues and get your knitting needles out! What better way to get rid of that dreary feeling than knitting for a good cause?

One in 14 babies are born prematurely in the UK, and few parents are prepared for these precious little arrivals. Indeed, clothes for such tiny babies are very hard to come by.

So we want you to become Kentish knitting fanatics and make some shawls, blankets and even teddies to keep their cute little bods cosy.

Whether you are a novice or an experienced knitting nit, there is a pattern for you and your contribution will be very welcome.

Originally the CSV Action Desk was sending patterns on behalf of the charity Bonnie Babies (which supports premature babies and their families,) but now we are asking you to download the patterns directly from the link below:

Then, please send your completed garments to:

Bonnie Babies
PO Box 9269
Campbell Town
PA28 6WS

If you have already sent them to us, don’t worry, we’ll get them to the charity!

The Eden Valley Districts Women’s Institutes, took the challenge and knitted a huge array of babie's clothes for Bonnie Babies

Eden Valley Districts WI got knitting.

Happy knitting!

(Based in Scotland, Bonnie Babies is a non-profit voluntary organisation which sends tiny hand made premature clothes and blankets to Special Baby Care units across the UK, including hospitals in Kent. Bonnie Babies takes great care to send the items to the hospitals which are most in need.)
