Bitterness by Emma Mary Gascoyne Bitter and twisted, she lies all alone Unable to understand why she's on her own The people she meets, all turn to flee She won't change, unable to see Her youth and her beauty all passing her by Writhing with torment, alone left to cry She'll shirk at the truth that stares in her face Having squandered her chances, her life such a waste Lonely and agonised fearing the end She hasn't a soul to say is a friend Begrudging the joys of others she sees Everything lost like a leaf in the breeze. submitted: 14/10/03
