Reflecting on an African journey

The expulsion of the Asian Community from Uganda by Idi Amin in the 1970's is well documented.

This period in history had a marked impact on the community in Leicester.

It was especially felt in the Belgrave Road area where many people came set up home with nothing.

One of the rooms at Belgrave Hall is now called the 'community room'.

Its aim is to show how the area has changed over the last 50 years.

A generation of people are naturally curious to find out more about their roots.

Rupal Rajani from BBC Radio Leicester has just made that journey to Uganda.

It's fair to say she was overwhelmed by what she found there.

Cowboy builders

Clamping down on cowboys - the building inspectors

Despite all the bad press they get, cowboy builders continue to rip off homeowners.

They can be callous too, picking on the elderly and vulnerable.

The kind of thing they get away with is carrying out work which isn't needed and then more likely than not do it badly.

Now though there are people in Trading Standards departments who have the sole task to catch them.

Ashley Blake has been given exclusive access to one man whose mission is to round up the cowboys.

But, as we soon learn, building a case against the rogue traders is not easy, and even when the cowboys end up in court, often the punishment does not fit the crime.

Inside Out joins building inspector Mark Harding on the trail of these rogue contractors.

"They are villains," Mark says. "They move into homes, destroy people’s physical and mental health, destroy the single biggest asset they have."

Women bikers

Women bikers are donning their leathers

Our final story is all about women and power.

This is the sort of power which men normally hang on to.

Not politics before you think about shuffling off to make a coffee, but bikes.

We're talking about those mean machines - motorbikes.

Big motorbike manufacturers are now making bikes with women in mind with smaller and lighter frames.

And more women are taking to the race tracks and testing their skills in competitions.

Our reporter Nicola Rees joined the fast women threatening male domination at a Lincolnshire race track.

We go racing with an all girl race team who take on the men head on - and do very well.
