1Digital Storytelling...Make this my Homepage
You can have this back

You can have this back. By Glynis Charlton.

Please tell us about yourself

I am a single woman in her late forties, with two teenage daughters.

I have lived in Hull most of my life and was married for 24 years.

I am about to become a freelance writer and pack as much into life as I can.

It feels like I only really began to live in 1997. So I am 10 years younger now than I was then.

What's your story about?

My story is about coming through a difficult time in my life, moving from being controlled to becoming independent.

In simple terms it is about why I love listening to birdsong. In reality, it's about being a survivor of domestic violence.

Why did you choose to tell this particular story?

Because every time I hear the birds sing in the morning I feel thankful - there are so many seemingly small things in life that we take for granted.
