Gillian Mark 2 by Gillian Firth.

Please tell us about yourself.

I was a young, active, newly-married teacher.

I had a near-fatal car crash, leaving me in a coma for six-weeks.

I an now disabled but endeavour to lead as normal and busy a life as I can.

I no longer teach or drive. I have written a book about my life after this milestone event, detailing my thoughts, observations and feelings.

What's your story about?

The book covers the four years following my awakening from 'the big sleep'.

My digital story does this in two-and-a-half minutes, with a poignant and moving soundtrack.

Basically my life was really good, and then it was a frustrating, awful, nightmare.

It's now as good as it can be. Well, I am happier.

Why did you choose to tell this particular story?

I chose this story in order to emphasise how this situation can and does happen to anybody, anytime.

With no reason, warning or choice.

When it does, there is nothing that you or anybody else can do about it.

Ultimate message: "You have to get on with it."
