Artists in north and north-east Lincolnshire will be opening their studios to the public as part of the annual Insight Open Studios event.

Twenty artists and six galleries will be showcasing their work over two weekends in September.

The event, which is in its seventh year, is allowing the public to get an insight into how artists develop their work.

Liz Bennet, one of the coordinators of the initiative, said: “It’s a great way for artists who do not have their own studio or an accessible studio space, to display their art in a collective space.”

One of the artists that will be showcasing their work during the event is Grimsby-born Gill Hobson, who is currently working at a studio space at the Ropewalk.

She has been exhibiting her glass and metal art collection at the Insight Open Studio event since 2005.

Gill has received commissions from the RHS Chelsea & Hampton Court Palace Show Gardens.

She is currently exhibiting her collection of unusual artworks at the National Glass Centre in Sunderland and London’s O2 stadium as part of the Gibson Guitar Town London project.

“Its great meeting the public, showing them how I work and actually create my art.” said Gill.

The Insight Open Studios takes place on 15th-16th and 22nd-23rd September 2007. For a full list of artists and galleries taking part, visit:
