The exhibition, Cinema India: The Art of Bollywood, features over 70 posters including large-scale printed hoardings, some taken from the Victoria and Albert Museum’s collection in London. It captures the excitement and glamour of Bollywood, documenting the vibrant and visual culture of Indian film. “The Victoria and Albert Museum’s had a big collection of film posters.” said Divia Patel, curator of the Cinema India exhibition at the Ferens. “We’ve been collecting them since the 1980’s. “It was something that I worked on for a while in terms of doing research for a book and then felt that it was actually something that we could do a very exciting show on." As part of their Bollywood season, the Ferens Art Gallery is presenting a series of lunchtime Indian dance classes to coincide with their touring exhibition. The classes are running from 12.30pm to 1pm at the Feren’s Live Art Space on the following Wednesdays: 29th November, 6th and 20th December. Tickets cost £2.
