Sowing the seeds of song

French musician Sylvain Chauveau made his UK debut in Hull on Friday 24th November as part of the Seeds and Bridges programme of concerts.

The seeds and bridges series of concerts continued with the French contemporary composer, Sylvain Chauveau and visual artist, Felicia Atkinson at the Horncastle Building, the Hull College's centre for performing arts, on Friday 24th November 2006.

Using a grand piano, guitar, glockenspiel, spoken word and subtle electronics, their work shifts between imaginary film soundtracks to atmospheric solo piano sonatas.

Sylvain Chauveau has released several albums for the French label, Les Disques du Soleil et de l'Acier and one on FatCat records.

He has performed in the USA and across Europe at concerts alongside Christian Fennesz, writer Mark Z. Danielwski and Sigur Ros.

Felicia Atkinson is a multimedia artist. Her work spans across music, poetry, video, 2-D drawing and writing.

As a writer, she has published for Mouvement, Remue.net, Mission Impossible and the New Yorker web magazine AC Intsitute.

The Sylvain and Felicia partnership formed over two years ago and together they have toured in the USA and Europe.

Sylvain Chauveau and Felicia Atkinson were supported by Hull band The Cuckoos.
