After an opening set by Sticklebrick, the competition began with a storming set by 11th Hour Failure, who were very well supported by their established fan base donning home made T-shirts of the band. Solo guitarist Mark Lovett skillfully played along to his own backing track while the crowd looked on in bewilderment. Edmund Kemper, formed from the ashes of Cross Out the Eyes and My Soul Eternal, flexed their metal credentials in an energetic display of power chords and on stage acrobatics. Next in the firing line were crowd pleasing favourites Broken Secrets who drew from an arsenal of power-pop anthems and high energy covers. Tauro brought their wide range of musical influences to the proceedings with a mixture of classic heavy metal all the way through to a reggae and ska number. The competition concluded with a strong set by Inhalation in front of an ever expectant mosh-pit complete with increasingly ambitious slam dancers. While the votes were counted, East Yorkshire's very own Torsohorse took to the stage to take the gig into another gear. The amps were turned all the way to eleven and the crowd surged forward for their fix of huge and brutal songs. Eventual winners, Broken Secrets, seemed genuinely surprised and truly appreciative of their victory and all the bands went out of their way to thank the event organisers and staff. |
