James Chases Bike Title

By Hayley Cross
AUGUST 13 will see local teenager James Westmoreland travel to the North Yorkshire circuit of Croft to contest in round ten of the British 125 championship.

The 18 year old from Sproatley near Hull has not had the best of starts to 2006 season but is hoping to amend his luck by becoming British 125 champion. After narrowly missing out to the title last year, James is currently running third in the series after completing just four of the nine rounds so far.

“I’m doing a really good job and I’m really happy with how everything is going. It is fantastic to get back out on track and to be on the podium” he explains.

James started the season contesting the British Supersport Championship with Trucklinks Honda, but had to withdraw from the team and was forced back into the 125 championship. He is hoping to rejoin the Supersport series next season and is expected to be getting consistent top five results.

After a positive result last year at Croft James is looking forward to competing with his Dunlop shod 125 KRP race bike next weekend.

“I’m really excited; Croft is a circuit I really like. It’s a local track as well so all my friends and family are going to be there cheering me on”
