My contribution was made for my Aunt, Milly Sheppard. As a midwife, she delivered me on September 5th 1939, so I was truly a war baby.
However, it is her story, told to me over recent years, recorded as a book for her 92 birthday.
The book also records her experiences after the war when she went to Southern Rhodesia as a nursing sister. She went on to become a matron in Bulawayo and Salisbury amongst other places. She had a rich and fulfilling career. She came back to her home in Wales on her retirement and lived with her sisters. Sadly they have died and she now lives in a residential home but she is still alert and great company.
