I think the idea of a national archive for the memories of people's war experiences is fantastic and am only sorry I have come to help gather stories late on the site. After finishing an OU degree I wanted to get some experience of writing memoirs and am honoured to be part of the writing of the two stories I have gathered to post upon the site. As for my family - my mother's father was an American GI based in Stafford in 1944 and was never heard from again after my pregnant nan wrote to him abroad with the news. I shall use the site for research. It is a privilege to be involved in the literary preservation of these stories.
