Having seen the new series coming to BBC 2 TV this month about Dunkirk, I felt compelled to write an extract from my Dad's war diary which I am hoping to have published sometime during this year. In 1939 Dad was a young soldier with the Royal Artillery 92nd Field Regiment, and having experienced Dunkirk, he also went to South Africa, India, the Far East to where he was captured by the Japanese. I am amazed at how many stories there are on this website - Well done BBC for providing such an opportunity for family and veterans to bring to life historic events of 60 years ago - there is a new generation out there, and these personal stories will be read, and talked about for generations to come. Thank you BBC and thank you for reading.
