Hello,

I am doing family history research; my great grandfather died in 1943 at Bari Port Italy. I hope through this web site perhaps to find out more about what happened on December 2nd and whether anyone recalls the crew of the Fort Athabaska, which is the ship my Great Grandfather sailed on as a Fireman, Trimmer. He was called Christopher Bedford Steel.

I am also looking to find out about his life before he died; he was a driver in the Army at Barracks in Portsmouth.
He was an Air Raid Warden in Soho in the Blitz (1940/41) and lived with a
''Whitechapel Communist Jewess''
(this description is what his brother, Anthony Bedford Steel, wrote in a document about Christopher's life.)

I would appreciate any information

Bye for now
