About the contributor

My name is Beatrice Murphy and I was born to Florence and Bernard Strand in Kings College Hospital,Denmark Hill,London in April 1929.I lived in various parts of London with my family untill I was sixteen years of age.

The war brings back many memories for me as I lived through it in my tenage years.My father was in the army and my eldest brother in the air force and my mother lived through the London blitz nursing her baby son.
