About the contributor

My grandfather was Jack Kellam. He was amongst the last british nationals to leave Paris (where he had been working as an accountant in 1940). He went on to serve with the home guard in Burgess Hill and work in the Bank of England. Towards the end of the war he joined the army (as a colonel "because that's what the Americans sent over") and assisted in returning the economies of Italy and Germany to a civilian footing.
