I was 4 years old when the war started. My sister was just a year old, another sister was born in 1941. My father was a reservist and rejoined the Army, The East Surrey Regiment, almost immediately. We lived in Carshalton, Surrey, but soon after moved to Kingston upon Thames, my mother's home town. Our home was in a road very close to Hawkers Aircraft factory and we used to watch the planes being built through the big hanger type doors. Susan and I were evacuated to Batley in the "Second wave"of evacuees.
I joined the WRAF in 1954, and served 4 years.
Married and had 3 children, and 4 grandchildren.
I now live in the Netherlands.
