I found the story "Buzzing Planes" when clearing out my Father's papers prior to him going into care at the age of 86. Not unusual you may think, but my father never talked about the war, and I mean never. All I knew was that he was in the Army, and he and my mother married at the tender age of 20 prior to him joining up. When I found his story typewritten and faded,he told me he had written it on my eldest son's request, when he was doing a paper on World War 2, and were asked to incorporate an account by a relative. My father then told me he always thought he was one of the lucky ones to come home and felt that although the war should never be forgotten he wanted to get on with his life and enjoy every moment. He has always been there for my mother, my brother and I, and I just wanted to share this lovely man's experience with others.
