Proir to the war we lived in Jersey. Luckily, my father, a clergyman, was given th living in the parish of Holdenhurst on the outskirts of Bournemouth just a few months before the war started. A search light battery was established in the field which surrounded our house. Having a military establishment so close to our house made us vunerable of attack. This is an account of some of my childhood memories.
